ABOUT US

www.parent-teen.com is a project of Parents' Press Publishing, which also publishes print magazines for parents in the San Francisco Bay Area.

We began in 1980 with Parents' Press, targeted at expectant parents and those with children from newborn through elementary school age.

Parents' Press was named the best regional parenting publication in the U.S. two years in a row and has won awards from the National Assn. for the Education of the Young Child and the American Heart Assn.

As our own children grew and we found ourselves facing the new challenges of parenting teenagers, we added Parent.TEEN.

The new magazine was addressed primarily to parents of adolescents, but we decided to present articles in such a way that they would be accessible to young people too.

Now we are bringing the same spirit to the Internet as www.parent-teen.com.

What makes us different? Well, most material meant for parents of teenagers focuses on problem behaviors. We think that teenagers are about lots more than "sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll."

We think your children's adolescence can be exciting, challenging, even fun - provided you have the right information and the support of other parents.

We like teens and preteens, and we think they - as well as parents - deserve straightforward information and respect.

You'll find contact information for us at the bottom of the index column (left-hand side) of every parent-teen page. Please use it to let us know what you want to see on this site and how we can help other parents of teens the most.

A personal thank you note: this site would not have been possible without the wonderful work, support, and friendship of my colleagues at Parents' Press and of my family, and without the scores of delightful teenagers I have known - my daughter Jenny (no longer a teenager!) and her friends, the children of friends, and the young people who have worked at Parents' Press.
